The Arthur W. Schultz Collection

This post we feature an additional look at large golf book collections. We have previously written about the Sam Martz Collection.

The Arthur W. Schultz Collection is held in the Special Collections Department at the University of Chicago Library. The collection was donated by Arthur W. Schultz an alumnus and Life Trustee of the University of Chicago. Schultz was an advertisting executive who worked his way up from the ground floor to become CEO of Foote, Cohen & Belding.

While much of the collection contains ubiquitious golf books, there is a strong concentration of club histories from Chicago area clubs as well as some rare limited editions such as Arnold Haultain’s The Mystery of Golf  from 1908 and Alister Mackenzie’s Golf Architecture from 1920.
